User manual for the Totem AR app

The Totem AR app enables users to access digital content created by publishing houses. Access to some content may require obtaining a subscription from the publishing house or inputting an access code. This is only possible for logged in users, therefore please ensure you register in advance and log in to your account.

Registration and logging in
Open the menu on the left hand side of the screen and select the “Log in” option.
If you do not have an account, select the “Register” option on the next screen.
Enter your e-mail address and password.
You can log in using your Google and Facebook accounts. To do this, select the suitable option on the logging in screen.
If you intend to log in using your e-mail address and you have already registered, enter your e-mail address and password in the relevant fields on the logging in screen.

Viewing available content
To access the list of publishing houses that provide digital content which enhances their publications, open the menu on the left hand side of the screen and select the “Publishing houses” option.
To access the list of available publications with additional digital content, open the menu on the left hand side of the screen and select the “Publications” option.
To access information on events enhanced with virtual presentations, open the menu on the left hand side of the screen and select the “Events” option.

Notifications within the app
The app can be used by publishing houses to notify readers of new releases featuring AR technology, planned events, as well as to pass other important information.
Viewing notifications is possible by opening the menu on the left hand side of the screen and selecting the “Notifications” option.
Notifications can be deleted by selecting the suitable option from the menu. Moreover, logged in users can add selected publishing houses to favourites or block notifications from them.
The “Settings” option gives logged in users the choice to turn off notifications entirely.

Viewing digital content
Once the menu on the left hand side of the screen is open, select the “Scan” option from the menu on the left hand side of the screen or by clicking on the orange button in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Point your camera lens at the photograph, graphics or the symbol that triggers the digital content (marker). You will shortly be given access to the additional content in the shape of links, downloadable documents, videos and text.
Some digital content may be accessible only to approved readers (following the purchase of a subscription or verification that the publication has been purchased legally). Accessing this type of content will be possible only for users that register with the publishing house and are on the list of approved readers or by scanning the QR code provided with the publication.

Using QR codes to access digital content
Once the menu on the left hand side of the screen is open, select the “Scan your QR code” option and point your camera lens at the QR code provided / inserted in the publication. Once the code is scanned correctly and verified, the currently logged in user will be given access to the digital content enhancing the publication.
This option will only work when you are logged in.
Once you are logged in, select the “Scan” option from the menu on the left hand side of the screen or by clicking on the orange button in the bottom right corner of the screen.
